Introduction to Irrigation Design is a one-day course for landscape architects with limited irrigation design experience. The course will include slide presentations, whiteboard sketches, actual material reviews, and design examples. 

Learning objectives include:

  • Knowledge of irrigation design principles
  • Knowledge of basic water hydraulics (pressure, flow, and velocity)
  • Familiarity with landscape irrigation components, methods, and terminology
  • Enhanced knowledge to create working irrigation design drawings

Instructor:  Dave Hilgers is Pacific Northwest native and a 1995 graduate of Washington State University in Landscape Architecture. He is a registered Landscape Architect in Washington and Oregon and currently is a Senior Project Manager for CBRE delivering construction projects on the Microsoft account. Sustainable design and construction, with an emphasis on water efficiency and storm water management, has been a focus of Mr. Hilgers’ career. He has utilized his expertise of landscape, irrigation, and construction to consult on green roof, rainwater harvesting, bioretention, and water efficiency projects throughout the Pacific Northwest.
