April Is World Landscape Architecture Month!World Landscape Architecture Month (WLAM) is right around the corner, and WASLA has exciting activities for you to participate in! April 1st marks the beginning of the global month-long celebration of our profession. This celebration reminds and informs citizens that landscape architecture is both universal and individually significant, producing a daily impact on life. Start thinking now about how you will help spread the word about the diverse field of Landscape Architecture! Here are some ways for you to join WASLA in spreading the word: 10 Parks That Changed America Screening + Panel - UW - To kick of WLAM, UW is hosting a special PBS screening of ‘The 10 Parks that Changed America’ with a special panel discussion between host Geoffrey Baer, producer Dan Protess, Rich Hagg, and Rachel Gleeson of Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates. WASLA is a sponsor of the reception before the event, so make sure to get there at 6 o’clock for some eats. For more information, see announcement below and register here: 10 Parks That Changed America Screening + Panel WLAM Temporary Signage - During WLAM, the WASLA PR & Awareness Committee will provide temporary signage for you to post at your favorite landscape architect-designed spaces (please check-in with property owners and obtain permission before posting signs). Snap a photo of the space with the sign included and post to social media with hashtags #WLAM and #WASLA. It’s really that easy! Stay tuned for an announcement later this month with a link to download your sign! WLAM Social Media Campaign - We need your help blasting your favorite social media platforms with tons of pictures! Get inspired and get creative. Use the blue “This is Landscape Architecture” card to hold in the foreground of all your photos of plazas, parks, streetscapes, or other landscape architect-design spaces. Use hashtags #WLAM2016 and #WASLA to make sure your voice is heard! You can access the card here. This is Landscape Architecture. Follow the WASLA Events page to learn about the exciting WLAM events and more, including the March happy hour. Remember, WLAM is our chance to reach out to the public to show them what we’re all about, so make sure to invite non-Landscape Architects to join the cause! We promise to blow their minds.
