PARK(ing) Day!
Wherever you are, come out on Friday, September 18th to take part in the international holiday of PARK(ing) Day! Temporary small parks will be set up across the world for just one day, including 60 pop-up parks and pop-up protected bike lanes in the City of Seattle. Next week, check the Seattle PARK(ing) Day webpage for a map of pop-up installations throughout the city.

Once again, WASLA led a fundraising effort to cover the required fees for community groups participating in Seattle PARK(ing) Day. Thank you to our sponsors for the generous support—Play & Park Structures, Swift Company, GGLO, Brumbaugh & Associates, SvR Design, The Watershed Company, Mithun, and Ned Gulbran Landscape Architects. Your support makes PARK(ing) Day more equitable for everyone.

#SDF2015 / Design for Equity: 9/12 - 9/25/2015
Join designers of all kinds in this two-week exploration of design. Programs include lectures, workshops, social gatherings, and many family-friendly events. Check out the full schedule here. The Festival starts on Sat 9/12 at Occidental Park with the annual SDF Block Party!

Share your PARK(ing) Day events, Washington!
National ASLA is holding a social media contest on PARK(ing) Day!  To participate, share pictures of your PARK(ing) Day space on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the hashtag #ASLAPD.  In addition to sharing your pictures, ASLA will choose one professional and one student parklet to feature in the November issue of Landscape Architecture Magazine.

Don’t forget to share the location of your PARK(ing) Day space with the rest of the nation via the ASLA PARK(ing) Day 2015 map!  To do this, all you have to do is place a pin at the location of your park.  Or, have your parklet pinned by passing along your park location to Lucas Vannice, Public Relations & Outreach Committee Chair, at [email protected].
