Letter from the Committee Chair: Professional Development

Professional Development
Jason King, ASLA

As the new chair of the Professional Development Committee, I’m excited about the plans taking shape for 2015 for continuing education activities offered through WASLA. We have a number of fun and informative events planned, kicking off with the ‘Introduction to Irrigation Design Course’ in February. Other activities in the works include some interdisplinary events with planners at APA and architects with the AIA, as well as more hands on trainings for landscape architects at all levels. Our goal is to provide relevant, informative, and fun events that foster the exchange of ideas and knowledge between landscape architects and other, allied professionals, and provide opportunities for continuing education that helps facilitate the health, safety and welfare of our communities.

Join Us: Our committee is currently looking for a few additional members to help guide and contribute to professional development activities, help plan upcoming events, and continue to provide a valuable resource for landscape architects, emerging professionals and students throughout the State of Washington. Our group meets in person every couple of months to plan events and brainstorm ideas, with regularly schedule phone and email to keep things moving. If you have ideas for events, and energy to contribute to strengthening our profession through educational resources, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact me a [email protected] or via phone at 206.787.8245.
