Dear WASLA Members and Readers,
Somehow it is already June. Which means we are already halfway through 2024? Then what; are you going to tell me next month is July? Unacceptable. Time should not be able to move this quickly. The only positive outcome of these inexplicable time dilations is that our Annual WASLA Conference will be here sooner!
On the topic of time, we are extending the deadline for conference presentation proposals to Friday, July 12th. We are excited to showcase our memberships' breadth of knowledge, highlighting new areas of research, thoughtfully designed projects, innovative ways to work, and everything in between.
If you are doing something inspiring, interesting, or engaging in our field or know someone who is, I strongly encourage you to submit a presentation this year. The value of our profession comes from our willingness to share what we have learned and collaborate on new ideas, and our conference embodies that notion. We are excited to see the fantastic presentation ideas you all send, whether it is a panel, a lecture, or a walking tour. I sincerely hope that you will contribute to this year's conference!
Similarly, our conference would not be such a success without our fantastic sponsors. We are incredibly thankful to all our sponsors who have already supported the 2024 conference and still have space for more! I always look forward to learning about all of the new materials and products that I can use in my work, and I hope to see both some familiar and new faces when I walk the trade show floor this year. If you have any questions about our conference sponsorship packages or the event itself, please email us at [email protected] and we will happily answer any questions you may have.
Lastly, our Call for Nominations for the open Board of Directors positions will close on Friday, June 28th. If you have been on the fence about putting your name into the ring, this newsletter is your sign to apply! The open positions include the Eastern, Western, and Statewide Members at Large, Secretary, and Treasurer. You can read more about the open positions and their responsibilities here.
Timely,
Nick Zurlini
