Washington Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects Mission

OUR MISSION as a landscape architecture organization is to lead, to educate and to participate in the careful stewardship, wise planning and artful design of our cultural and natural environments.

Strategic Objectives and Goals

Advocacy and Awareness

Ensure the right to practice for Washington State landscape architects.

Goal 1: Consistent representation and participation with the Washington Board of Licensure for Landscape Architects and the Architects and Engineers Legislative Council.
Goal 2: Clarification on roles and responsibilities of landscape architects in Washington State.
Goal 3: Promote member participation in chapter advocacy initiatives.

Enhance the awareness and understanding of the value of the landscape architecture profession.

Goal 1: Expand community and public outreach.
Goal 2: Continue and enhance allied organization outreach.

Member Services and Support

Provide programs and resources that support and advocate for WASLA members.

Goal 1: Provide professional growth and networking opportunities and resources.
Goal 2: Recognize, promote and celebrate the work of WASLA members.

Supporting the Future of the Profession

Develop a pathway for a successful career in landscape architecture through engagement with students at all levels.

Goal 1: Cultivate the University of Washington and Washington State University relationships.
Goal 2: Showcase landscape architecture as a career opportunity.

Governance and Management

Identify priorities and objectives that respond to member needs and exercise responsible management of chapter resources.

Goal 1: Administrative oversight to ensure appropriate and efficient use of chapter resources.
Goal 2: Expand and empower chapter volunteers.
Goal 3: Produce frequent, consistent and relevant member communications.
Goal 4: Retain and grow membership to strengthen organization.
