Perched on a steeply sloping site overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Hither Hills House transforms a degraded residential lot in Montauk into a resilient coastal retreat for connecting with family, friends, and nature. Inspired by the unique geology and regional plant communities of Long Island’s East End, the design amplifies the intrinsic qualities of this dramatic setting and immerses people in the outdoors. Serving as an alternative model to generic new developments threatening the character and sustainability of coastal communities, this project prioritizes ecology, beauty, and sense of place.
