Hello WASLA Members,
The leaves are piling up, the rain has returned, and the sun is checking out earlier each day—must be November in the Pacific Northwest.
As we head into the busy holiday season, many of us are juggling project deadlines, travel plans, and back-to-back events. Hopefully, you're also finding time to slow down, take a breath, and enjoy a few sunbreaks through the clouds.
We’ve got a couple of chances to connect before the year winds down. If you're in the South Sound, join us for a Landscape Architecture Happy Hour at 7 Seas Brewery & Taproom in Tacoma on November 20th. It's a great opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues over a pint.
Then, mark your calendar for December 4th, when Maglin Site Furniture and PLS will host a Christmas Studio Social at HBB Landscape Architecture. Space is limited—please RSVP by November 28th.
In national news, the WASLA Board was heartened to hear that the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Landscape Architecture program will remain open after facing possible elimination. Thanks to passionate advocacy—letters, petitions, phone calls—the program will continue. It’s a reminder that speaking up matters and that we all play a role in sustaining the future of our profession. We expect more challenges like this to arise at other universities, and National ASLA is tracking the situation closely.
Wishing you all a smooth, stress-free November and a joyful holiday break.
Warm regards,
Mike Faulkner
