Creating Community Infrastructure - Snoqualmie Tribe Harvest Kitchen and Greenhouse ClassroomLandscape Architect: Fora Landscape Architects The Snoqualmie Tribe envisioned the expansion of its existing Tribe Office and Child Development Center as a place where tribal members and their children could learn about and participate in the Tribe’s culture, food sovereignty, traditional crafts, local plant cultivation, and community gathering. Shaped through collaboration with tribal leaders, the Harvest Kitchen project transforms a childcare expansion into a living cultural landscape where multi- generational tribal members can gather for events and community meals and have hands-on opportunities to learn and pass down cultural practices and traditions. Children and tribe members move seamlessly among the greenhouse classroom, fruit orchard, harvest kitchen, and communal gathering spaces, experiencing traditions as living practices rather than representations of the past. By embedding Tribal knowledge into everyday experiences, the project honors the past while creating infrastructure for future generations. |
