President's Remarks

Hello WASLA Members,

As we kick off 2025, the board is already hard at work planning an exciting year ahead. From coordinating with our WASLA Committees to engaging with sponsors and collaborating with the University of Washington and Washington State University, there’s much to look forward to.

Annual Membership Meeting

A quick reminder that our Annual Membership Meeting is tomorrow, January 24th at 12 PM via Zoom. This is a great opportunity to reflect on our accomplishments in 2024 and share updates for the coming year. We hope you’ll join us to hear about upcoming initiatives and share your ideas.

Announcing WASLA Field Day

The big news this year is a new format for our annual gathering. Instead of the traditional conference, we’re excited to announce that WASLA will host a Field Day in Seattle! This event will feature engaging field sessions and activities, providing a unique opportunity to connect with fellow landscape architects in a more informal setting.

While the annual conference will return in 2026, Field Day represents a step toward creating a balanced, engaging schedule of events throughout the year that better aligns with the National ASLA Conference. If successful, Field Day may become a recurring event in addition to the conference, offering an exciting new opportunity for our members to gather, learn, and connect.

2025 Awards Banquet

We’re also gearing up for awards season. Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming awards banquet and call for entries. This will be your chance to celebrate the incredible work being done in our profession and highlight outstanding projects across the state.

Get Involved

Finally, we’re always looking for new ways to improve and grow the chapter. Whether it’s joining a committee, running for a board position, or attending events, there are countless ways to contribute to WASLA. Your involvement helps shape the future of our chapter and ensures we remain a vibrant, supportive community.

Here’s to a successful and inspiring year ahead!

Mike Faulkner
