Job Description

Talasaea Consultants, Inc. is an environmental planning and design firm seeking an experienced landscape architect to join our team of landscape designers and ecologists. Our projects range in size and complexity from multi-family and single-family residential communities, to retail, commercial, and industrial developments. Projects involve wetland and stream mitigation, including habitat creation, enhancement, and restoration; and site landscaping, including recreation, and open space elements with the goal of integrating ecological components within the built environment. The ideal candidate will assist in the management of a small team of landscape designers on projects from site planning and design conception through construction-level permitting documents. This person will coordinate with both internal and external team members across several disciplines, as well as with clients, governmental agencies, and contractors as part of the design and permitting process. Responsibilities will also include construction oversight for mitigation and landscape installation. Candidates must have private sector consulting experience with mitigation/restoration of Pacific Northwest natural areas, as well as with more traditional site landscape and open space designs.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture.
  • Landscape Architecture license or in progress.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in:oNative plant design for mitigation/restoration projects; Site landscape and open space design; Site planning.
  • Knowledge of planting design, construction materials, irrigation, construction principles, grading, drainage, and technical aspects of landscape architecture.
  • Strong design skills, including conceptual sketching and drafting.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability in reviewing/preparing construction documents and specifications.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication, organization, and technical writing skills.
  • Working knowledge of Federal, State, and local codes and ordinances applicable to both critical areas and landscape requirements.
