President's Remarks
Laura Thompson

Happy May, WASLA members! There is a lot to recap from April, so I am just going to jump right into it! On April 20th, WASLA hosted the pre-conference reception at Left Bank Wine Bar in Spokane.  It was a packed house which made the mingling and festivities that much better! You couldn't help but spark up conversation with passerbys as you made your way from one end of the venue to the other. Let's be honest, getting that second ticket's worth of beverage proved to be quite the feat! But that's what it's all about - bumping into old friends, meeting new people, sharing stories and coming together as a group of like-minded individuals. I loved hearing the indistinguishable conversations happening all around me and the outbreaks of laughter roaring through the room. It certainly sounded like everyone was having a great time - I know I did! Read more

World Landscape Architecture Month Highlights

Thank you to everyone who supported WASLA this April for our 2017 World Landscape Architecture Month (WLAM) social media campaign! We made over 100 posts, across WASLA's Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts and participated in National's Instagram takeover. Throughout the month, WASLA highlighted landscape architect-designed places from Washington State on our chapter's social media platforms.

On April 21st we took over the National ASLA Instagram page, showcasing landscape architecture from our state to an audience of 31,000 followers. The #WLAM2017 campaign organized by ASLA reached 2,916,036 people through 6,812 posts creating 36,119,323 impressions! Search the hashtag #WLAM2017 to check out work from landscape architects across the country and around the world. Follow WASLA on Instagram and Twitter @washingtonasla, and like the Washington Chapter American Society of Landscape Architects page on Facebook.

Congratulations David de la Cruz! National Olmsted Winner

Tuesday May 23rd, 2017, 6:30pm
UW Architecture Hall 147
1.5 LA/CES Professional Development Hours available at this event

Our region's largest naturalistic public park, Discovery Park, affords the indispensable ingredients for a flourishing humane wilderness environment within an urban city. Equanimity, health and introspection all thrive here. Please join Peter Ker Walker and a select invitation of panelists as they discuss Seattle's largest public park: its rich history, current role in the City's parks system, and exciting future.
