Greetings from a sodden Yellow Chicken Farm, where our endless spring rains have wreaked havoc on pollination, but the bees are still buzzing. I’m near the high school and could hear the echoes of the graduation ceremony.  Another reminder that our seasonal traditions continue regardless of weather.  Similar ceremonies were held at WSU and UW and I welcome our profession’s newest members to the fold and wish them success.  Another seasonal tradition is the National ASLA Student awards.  A great BIG thank you to Carrie Culp, ASLA, who organized the juries and thank you to the juries as well!  And thanks to Vanessa Lee and Ken Yocum at the University of Washington and Jolie Kaytes at Washington State University for wrangling the students. Congratulations to the following students: University of Washington
Bachelor’s students Reed Lewis – Honor Award Heewon Kim – Merit Award Master’s students Erin Irby – Honor Award Erynne van Zee – Honor Award Hoilok Heather Lam – Merit Award Sarah Lukins – Merit Award Washington State University Bachelor’s students Julianna Mettler – Honor Award Kyle Dominguez – Merit Award Lizbeth Maldonado – Merit Award Our education never ends…as in continuing education for maintaining our licenses. We do send out reminders to the membership for free CE courses.  Our fantastic sponsors have been offering free classes so take advantage of them.  Also, thanks to our sponsors! Hopefully, as is tradition, the good weather will begin on July 5th.  Enjoy the fireworks and be safe.   Sincerely, |
