Brookville Gardens Community ParkProject Title: Brookville Gardens Community Park Built spaces include a play area reflecting the site’s agricultural history, two picnic shelters, a large plaza, and a restroom. Open spaces offer one mile of interconnected walking trails. The park’s structures incorporate green roofs for enhanced sustainability. Other sustainable features include a porous asphalt parking lot and bioretention cells to provide water quality treatment to site runoff. As part of the project, Wapato Creek, which runs through the site, was restored to a more natural state, assuring that the creek will evolve into a habitat for wildlife and restore a vital local ecosystem. The park has created a community treasure on revitalized land that sat contaminated and unused for many years. |
