Scaling Up: The Bay Area Regional Shoreline Adaptation PlanProject Title: Scaling Up: The Bay Area Regional Shoreline Adaptation Plan In 2023 the state of California passed Senate Bill 272, requiring every jurisdiction along the San Francisco Bay shoreline to create a sea level rise adaptation plan that adheres to guidelines and regulations set forth by the Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC). A landscape architecture led design and engineering team assisted BCDC in developing the Regional Shoreline Adaptation Plan in collaboration with jurisdictions, community groups and elected officials, setting a region-wide vision and guidelines that are shaping the Bay Area as people practice sea level rise adaptation together. Rigorous equity and technical advisory teams integrated best practices that will affect the region’s quality of planning for years to come. |
