Dear WASLA Members and Readers,

As foreseen in last month’s newsletter, June has given way to July. Summer always seems to fly by! I hope you are all finding ways to beat the heat, enjoy the sunshine, and spend time outdoors.

We have several exciting events on our calendar for the coming months that I encourage you to participate in. Voting is now open for the available Board of Directors positions. You should have received an email with a link to an electronic ballot. Please make sure you cast your vote by the end of the month since the polls close on July 31st.

The deadline for early-bird registration for the 2024 WASLA Conference is also July 31st. This year's conference promises an exciting lineup of sessions, speakers, and vendors. We are thrilled to bring the conference back to Spokane, especially as the downtown core has experienced so much positive growth and the city celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Expo '74.

On July 25th, Berger Partnership will host an Open Studio Social, sponsored by Landscape Forms. A link to RSVP is provided below, and I look forward to seeing many new and familiar faces there.

The Washington Association of Landscape Architects (WASLA) is pleased to announce that Nick Zentner will be one of the keynote speakers at its upcoming conference. Zentner is a geology professor at Central Washington University and television personality best known for his work on the PBS show "Nick on the Rocks."

In addition to his work on "Nick on the Rocks, Zenter is a frequent speaker at conferences and events around the world.
