President's Remarks
Duane Dietz
Happy New Year everyone! I want to thank all my fellow landscape architects who have begun or renewed their ASLA/WASLA membership. Our chapter numbers have been slowly recovering from the drop that began at the start of the pandemic. Encourage your co-workers/employees to join as we will have a full plate of activities planned for the year. We have a few items to start off 2022 with a bang. The call for the 2022 WASLA Awards begins today (see below). We also want to start planning process for the October WASLA Conference. Please consider volunteering by emailing your contact information to [email protected].
Finally, I want to give a big shout out to all our sponsors who given their amazing support to WASLA in 2021. We all look forward to working with (and supporting) them again in 2022!
Sincerely,
Duane Dietz WASLA President

Equity at Work Research Report
Equity at Work: Designing an Inclusive and Equitable Workplace Culture is a collaborative research project between University of Washington MLA Graduate Jake Minden, The College of Built Environments Applied Research Consortium, and Mithun. The research explores the intersection of racial justice, workplace culture, and design practice through an initial literature review, a national survey of 575 design professionals, and 10 semi-structured interviews. The resulting findings led to a set of recommendations aimed at supporting a range of design practices in the improvement of their workplace cultures from a lens of racial justice and inclusion. For any questions related to the research, or the distribution of the final report, contact Jake Minden, [email protected].
The report is available here:
* Hosted here on the Applied Research Consortium (ARC) webpage (navigate to Past Fellows, Jake Minden), which displays current and past student projects from the consortium.
* the direct link to the pdf can be found at https://mithun.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Equity-at-Work-Report.pdf
