Hi all,

 It was a pleasure seeing many of you at the WASLA Awards Ceremony. It’s always inspiring to celebrate the impactful work happening across our state. Thank you to everyone who submitted projects, and a big shout-out to our vendors, volunteers, and board members who made the event a success.

 With summer on the horizon, our focus now shifts to Field Day: Downtown Seattle, taking place on Friday, September 12th. Registration details will be announced soon, and our Call for Presentations and Site Tours is currently open through June 30th. If you have an idea to share or a project to showcase, we’d love to hear from you.

 Our board and members have also been actively involved in the ASLA Student Awards, and as always, we’re impressed by the creativity and passion our future professionals bring to the field. At the same time, the WASLA Students & Emerging Professionals Committee is reviewing applications for WASLA’s National Conference Stipends, helping send students and emerging professionals to the ASLA National Conference in New Orleans this fall.

 Looking at everything WASLA accomplishes—engaging students, supporting emerging professionals, hosting events, and offering continuing education—I’m reminded how vital this community is in shaping and growing our profession.

 Furthermore, we’ve kicked off the 2025 WASLA Open Board Positions. This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved, expand your network, and contribute your ideas to the future of the profession. If you're interested, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Join us for the launch of WASLA Field Day, a new annual event exploring built work, urban design, and placemaking. This year’s event—Field Day: Downtown Seattle—will focus on the city’s evolution and renewed connection to its waterfront.

We’ll spend the day together at Block 41 and out in the field with a mix of presentations, walking tours, and a keynote. Food and drinks will be provided.

 Call for Presentations & Tours

We’re seeking a limited number of sessions that are place-based, engaging, and relevant to Downtown Seattle.

To propose a session, please send a brief description of your credentials, proposed topic or walking tour by June 30 to [email protected]
