President's Remarks

Hi all,

We’re finally starting to see some nice spring weather—I hope you’ve all had a chance to get outside these past few days. Things are ramping up for WASLA following another successful Trivia Night—a huge thank you to the Students & Emerging Professionals Committee, who somehow manage to keep this event going strong year after year!

Next up is the 2025 WASLA Professional Awards on May 14th @ Georgetown Ballroom. If you haven’t already signed up, be sure to register soon—we’re looking forward to celebrating all the great work happening across Washington.

We’ve also started planning for Field Day, taking place on September 12th, where we’ll explore inspirational projects throughout Downtown Seattle. If you have an idea for a particularly engaging tour or session, please reach out—we’d love to hear from you. We’re also on the search for a keynote speaker to help cap off the event! Stay tuned for more details!

With that, thank you for all you do to improve the built and natural environments we all depend on. We look forward to seeing you at upcoming events—and in the meantime, get outside and enjoy the sunshine!

Cheers,

Mike Faulkner

Save the Date: WASLA Field Day 2025

Friday, September 12 | Noon–7:00 PM | Downtown Seattle
Block 41, 115 Bell St, Seattle, WA 98121

Join us for a fun-filled Field Day focused on exploring the evolving urban landscape of downtown Seattle. This year’s event invites attendees to engage with the city through a mix of presentations and guided walking tours.

Event Overview:

The day will begin with lunch and networking, followed by two blocks of concurrent sessions. During each block, participants will choose between:

  • A presentation hosted at Block 41, our central hub
  • A walking tour of completed nearby projects

We’ll close the day with a keynote, drinks and dinner back at Block 41.

Note: Given this year’s format, presentation and tour opportunities will be limited. A formal Call for Presenters will be announced soon—but now is a great time to begin thinking about ideas. If you're interested in contributing or have ideas, feel free to reach out early to [email protected]

More details coming soon. We hope to see you there.
